About me

Syeda Shajeela is working as the Operations Manager in Abinta Kabir Foundation in Dhaka. It is a non-profit organization that works in the education sector and promotes sports and arts. She is an anthropologist by training and has previously worked with the Hijra community to understand the construction of the Hijra identity in the context of Bangladesh. By being part of the Global Shapers, she hopes to learn from people who possess the drive to make a difference in our community, and be part of a process that encourages mutual growth. She enjoys reading high fantasy and crime fiction novels, a good game of checkers and playing the ukulele. She read Harry Potter for the first time right before her 11th birthday and waited for an owl to arrive at her house for a very, very long time!
